Reflecting on a Year of Friendship and Fishing
The Fishcare Geelong and Bellarine Group had a fun party at Barwon Valley Fun Park to celebrate the end of the year. This was a special time to thank the awesome volunteers who help out with Fishcare Victoria all year long.
The day started with everyone going fishing by the pretty Barwon River. Even though they didn’t catch many fish, it was a time to make their friendships stronger and cheer for all the hard work they did during the year. There was a lot of laughing as volunteers shared stories and enjoyed being together.
After the fishing adventure, everyone got to enjoy a tasty Aussie barbecue cooked by Mitch McMaster, the Geelong, and Bellarine Facilitator. It was a chance to relax, eat good food, and appreciate each other’s efforts.
As they enjoyed the delicious meal, the volunteers talked about the past year and what they hope for in the future. They shared stories about their experiences, talked about the challenges they faced, celebrated the good things that happened, and even shared some funny stories about the big fish that got away.
As the sun went down, making everything glow gold, the group looked forward to the new year. The whole event showed the spirit of the Fishcare Geelong and Bellarine Group—a community that loves water and is committed to taking care of it and the fish. The volunteers left Barwon Valley Fun Park feeling grateful for the past year, with happy memories, and excited for what’s to come in the new year.
Cheers to more shared experiences, taking care of the environment, and the continued success of Fishcare Victoria! They also wished everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Tight lines!
