Fishy Tales – A Networking Event – Fishcare Victoria State Conference

The Fishcare Victoria State Conference will be held from the afternoon of Friday the 1st of April until mid afternoon on Sunday the 3rd of April in the gorgeous town of Warrnambool.

Fishcare Victoria have had a long standing relationship with Deakin University and the town ship of Warrnambool. The South West regional group have been based in Warrnambool since the early 2000’s. With the Hopkins River and Merri River bordering the township and the Breakwater stretching out into Lady Bay (the southern ocean), there are many fishing opportunities on Warrnambool’s doorstep.
Many of Fishcare’s volunteers have started as Deakin Univeristy students with several going on to work in the field and some even finding employment with Fishcare. The South West group welcome’s everyone to Warrnambool and the Deakin University Campus.

The event will include the Warrambool Fish Habitat Workshop on the saturday held by the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority, Australian Trout Foundation, Victorian Fisheries Authority and Arthur Rylah Institute. We will follow this up with the service awards presentation. On Sunday we will be hearing from Elysia Gustafson in regards to the FishAbility program and it’s success and what’s next for the program as will as clinic delivery and a brainstorming session about what new resouces or activities can we develop or get involved in.
