The Melbourne Mornington and Westernport Region has been away from the water and spending time on volunteer recruitment, training and building resources for schools and communities. What was once conducted in person or completed across a series of days – our Volunteer Induction is now Virtual and available through Google Classroom – a central learning space for staff and volunteers to access Fishcare Victoria resources!

Using a code or invitation link new volunteers can simply access the learning materials required following their registration through the website. The platform is home to all policies, procedures, and educational resources of the Fishcare program and a series of learning Modules to be completed. The five Modules introduce volunteers to Occupational Health and Safety, Fish Biology, Ethics and Sustainability, Education and Communication and Volunteering with Individuals living with a Disability; accompanied by a fun quiz to be completed at the end.

This training allows new volunteers to easily access Fishcare Victoria resources and undertake their training in a matter of hours from the comfort of their own home before entering the field to deliver clinics in person.
