Summer around Port Phillip & Westernport

Fishcare Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula and Westernport had a very busy summer running our community Come and Try Fishing series with great success! We ran 3 Come & Try Fishing sessions in Carrum, Wheelers Hill, Elwood and unfortunately due to extreme heat had to cancel our 4th session at Albert Park.

The first fishing session on the 17th January at Launching Way, Carrum. We were able to take advantage of the new extended boat ramp and fishing platform with a fully booked clinic. With every one of the families being novices, there were also a few adults who came along to learn how to fish – with only a couple of fish being caught.

The last session at Elwood was the most successful with lots of Pinkies (young Snapper) being caught as well as a few Toadies for good measure. Every participant was able to catch a fish or two and was thrilled to finish off their day when the ice-cream truck pulled up at the end of the fishing session to cool off!

We were busy around the state also running clinics for the charity camps at The Portsea Camp, Sea Days Festival at Port Welshpool, Family Fishing Days at Wilson Promontory and Fish Dissections at the Dandenong Market.
