Summer in East Gipplsland

January is always a busy month for the Fishcare EG volunteers with the delivery of  “Come Try Fishing workshops” as part of the Coastcare Summer by the Sea program to the holiday makers enjoying the great weather along the East and Far East Coast. Eight workshops were conducted along the coast with a 279 participants taking part with everyone enjoying the two hour program with some great fish caught. Fishcare EG appreciated the support from the local Fisheries Compliance Officers who attended and supported every workshop. They spoke at each workshop about their roles and stayed for the complete sessions to help Fishcare and also be available for any questions from the public.Also in January, another important partnership was developed with the Loch Sport Fishing Association which saw Fishcare coming to Loch Sport on the Australia Day weekend to deliver a fishing workshop as part of their Kids Fishing day which attracted 72 participants. A highly successful event.
