Fun and Learning at Kerferd Rd Jetty: A Day with Elwood Angling Club

On the first Wednesday of this month, our community came together for the much-anticipated monthly event at Kerferd Rd Jetty, marking another successful gathering of fishing enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. In collaboration with the members of the Elwood Angling Club, the day was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and of course, fishing.

Despite the varying luck and skill among participants, our fishing endeavor resulted in a humble but rewarding catch. Over the course of four sessions, we managed to reel in a single Flathead alongside a number of pinky Snapper. While most of these Snapper were undersized, a fortunate few met the legal size requirements. However, in the spirit of conservation and respect for our aquatic environment, all catches were carefully and safely released back into the water, allowing them to continue growing and thriving in their natural habitat.

This event wasn’t just about the catch; it was a celebration of fishing as a way to connect with nature and with each other. The brilliant support from the Elwood Angling Club members once again highlighted the strength and warmth of our community. Their expertise, enthusiasm, and willingness to share their knowledge with others enriched the experience for everyone involved, from seasoned anglers to novices eager to learn.

The Kerferd Rd Jetty gatherings are more than just fishing events; they are a testament to the joy of coming together, sharing experiences, and fostering a deep appreciation for the environment. We are reminded of the importance of sustainable fishing practices and the role each of us plays in protecting our marine ecosystems for future generations.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and especially to the Elwood Angling Club for their unwavering support and partnership. As we look forward to our next gathering, we’re excited about the opportunities to learn, enjoy, and perhaps catch (and release) some more fish. Here’s to many more days filled with fun, education, and community spirit at Kerferd Rd Jetty.
