Get Hooked on Lakes

The Hooked on Lakes Entrance Seafood Festival is an annual event for Seafood lovers and recreational anglers looking for food, fishing and family fun over the Labour Day long weekend.

Since the commencement of this festival annually over the last three years , Fishcare East Gippsland has supported the Victorian Fisheries Authority in conducting family fishing clinics for people attending this event . This year, five educational fishing clinics were held over the day with 94 participants enjoying and taking part. Not just children took part, a percentage were adults who wanted to learn how to be sustainable future anglers and have the skills to go out fishing with their families.

When the clinics were completed, the children and adults went fishing on the jetty with some enthusiastic VFA staff as well as the Fishcare EG Volunteers. Some big trevally caught on the day as well as toadies and smaller fish, which gave the children practice in returning fish back safety into the water. A great day was had by all!!
